SKIN TYPE QUIZ

Build from howyour skin behaves.

Your skin type is a practical starting point for choosing texture, cleansing intensity and moisture support. Solvi combines how your skin looks with how it feels across the day, then turns the result into a simpler routine.

What the skin type quiz looks for

The quiz compares visible cues with your own experience after cleansing, during the middle of the day and after product use. The American Academy of Dermatology describes five common patterns: oily, dry, combination, normal and sensitive.

These categories can overlap. Sensitive skin describes how readily skin stings or burns after products, so it can also be oily, dry or combination. Your result should therefore explain the pattern, not just display a label.

01

Oily

Shine and a greasy feel tend to appear across much of the face, often returning soon after cleansing.

02

Dry

Skin may feel tight and appear flaky, itchy or rough, especially after washing.

03

Combination

Oil is more noticeable in some zones, often the forehead, nose and chin, while other areas feel drier.

04

Normal

Oil and dryness are relatively balanced, with little persistent sensitivity.

05

Sensitive

Products may trigger stinging, burning or visible irritation more easily than expected.

How to get a more useful result

Answer based on repeated patterns, not a single unusual day. Weather, travel, over-cleansing, a new active or a recent procedure can temporarily change how skin feels.

01

Think after cleansing

Notice whether the face feels comfortable, tight or quickly becomes shiny after a gentle wash.

02

Think at midday

Look at where shine develops and whether dry areas become more noticeable under sunscreen or makeup.

03

Think after products

Include recurring stinging, burning or redness rather than one reaction to a known irritating product.

04

Share your context

Season, climate and current routine can explain why the same skin behaves differently over time.

Use skin type to simplify product choices

Skin type can guide product texture and frequency, but it does not require an elaborate routine. A gentle cleanser, moisturizer selected for your needs and daily broad-spectrum sun protection create a stable base. A specific concern can then be addressed one change at a time.

The AAD notes that multiple new products can irritate skin. Solvi uses your quiz result to reduce competing steps and to make it easier to identify which change helps or causes discomfort.

01

If skin is oily

Choose lightweight, non-comedogenic textures and avoid trying to scrub away every trace of oil.

02

If skin is dry

Favor gentle cleansing and apply an appropriate moisturizer while the skin is still slightly damp.

03

If skin is combination

Adjust texture or amount by zone instead of forcing one heavy or stripping product across the whole face.

04

If skin is sensitive

Introduce products gradually and stop a step that repeatedly causes discomfort or visible irritation.

Your skin type can shift

Season, humidity, age, hormones, medications and routine changes can all affect oil, water retention and sensitivity. A result is a current working profile, not a permanent identity.

If your skin becomes persistently painful, cracked, inflamed or develops a concerning rash, seek advice from a licensed professional. A skin type quiz cannot identify the cause of a medical symptom.

What people ask before they start

01How can I tell if my skin is oily or combination?

Oily skin tends to develop shine across much of the face. Combination skin shows a clearer split, with oil concentrated in some zones and dryness or comfort in others.

02Can sensitive skin also be oily?

Yes. Sensitivity describes how readily skin reacts, while oily, dry and combination describe oil and moisture patterns. The traits can occur together.

03Should I wash my face before taking the quiz?

You do not need to change your routine immediately before answering. Use patterns from normal days and follow the photo instructions if you continue to the visual scan.

04How often should I retake a skin type quiz?

Retake it when your usual skin behavior changes for more than a brief period, such as after a major seasonal, hormonal, medication or routine change.
